In 2020, the outdated Eurosport TV app suffered from poor usability, including illegible text and difficult navigation as it designed referencing Web Responsive guidelines.

The goal was to create an engaging and intuitive lean-back experience across multiple connected TV platforms, while incorporating the company’s rebranding efforts.

User Testing Findings

5 participants were recruited for 1-1 interviews to test the prototype. I learned that the app was easy to use and could navigate easily through the keyboard. They liked the clean interface and the use of big images. They also expressed their interest on the “Highlights” section.

Define | Design Ideation

As there were no previous design system for the Connected TV app and Eurosport was undergoing through a rebrand, I had the creative freedom to explore and create new components from scratch.

Style + Branding

The new branding consisted of darker colors, new font, new tag and iconography which I utilised to built the new design from.

Cross referenced and tested on 5 platforms to check for component accessibility.

During the transition of Eurosport being added into DPLUS certain features such as the smart header and schedule were implemented by the DPLUS service.

 

Schedule Screen

 

Eurosport Player had a base of 800k subscribers but because its a cyclical service, relying on on major sport events it sees a jump in subscribers during prime time sporting events.
